Hi everyone,

You haven’t heard from me in a few weeks, and this is because there are a lot of exciting things happening in the background that I can’t wait to tell you about!

The team at Edge has grown, as I have finally found the perfect person to join our group as my lead writer and co-analyst on a full-time basis.

This means we finally have the horsepower to really dig deep into the small-cap markets to provide quality research and start building our own Edge small-cap portfolio.

With the market sell-off as bad as it has been, we see this as the perfect opportunity to start digging for hidden gems in the midst of the rubble.

In this week’s newsletter, there are a few things I would like to share with you all: the return of live Deal Night events, our new small-cap portfolio, and what kind of content you can expect to see from us going forward; including our new and upcoming podcast launch!

Live Deal Night Events

It’s been way too long since we’ve had to pause our live events, but we finally have the green light to resume!

Starting with our first event re-launch at the end of June in Vancouver, Canada – Deal Night will finally return!

Deal Night’s original mission was simply to make investor events less boring while finding ways to provide more value for attendees and not just the event sponsors.

Our core focus is to have the best investing networking event around, that is both fun (DJs & drinks) and educational (presentations from amazing thought leaders).

The last three events we hosted each sold out in less than a day of announcing – so we can only hope your excitement is even greater after being locked inside for 2 years!

If you are interested in attending, please fill out the quick survey below and let us know what city you are in. We will be launching our first event in Vancouver, Canada, with new cities to follow.

The Edge Small-Cap Portfolio

As a former equity analyst at two of North America’s largest fund managers (BCIMC and RBC Global Asset Management), my previous background was entirely in large-cap stocks. Over time, I grew bored of competing with portfolio managers who all cover the same stocks, measure companies the same way, use the same financial models and typically generate returns historically around 10% per year.

It’s a great way to maintain wealth (and grow it over a very long horizon), but it’s never been an excellent way to create wealth in the first place.

I fell in love with small caps (market cap of $300m – $2b) and micro caps/penny stocks (anything under $300m) after having a few colossal wins that generated returns I had never experienced before.

In the last 3 years, I have had numerous 3X & 4X returns, and my best trade to date was over 35X!

And though over half of my net worth is currently in large caps (27 diversified Canadian and US stocks), it’s the other half that requires most of my time, but also has the most upside.

Now that I will be joined by my new analyst, Declan, you’ll see this newsletter begin to provide more unbiased research on individual stocks as we add them to our own portfolios and share our research with you.

If there are any sectors or types of companies you want us to cover, please reach out and let us know!

The Edge Podcast

We have done CEO interviews for years, but for the first time ever I recently decided to start saying ‘yes’ to being a guest on a few local investing podcasts.

The feedback was great, and I was surprised to see so many people strongly suggest we launch our own podcast, so we can start covering more long-form content.

In case you’re interested, here’s the first one I did on the Go Public Podcast, hosted by my good friends Nick Findler and Tyler Cresswell:

https://gopublic.ai/podcast?featured=1

Our format will be similar to the long-form videos we’ve done in the past, but with more emphasis on a candid conversation, rather than simply giving CEOs the chance to speak about their companies. We are also planning to dive into a variety of different thought leadership topics.

Some themes we’re considering:

📉 How to invest in a recession?

💰 Best undervalued small-cap stocks

💎 Industry deep dives into the metaverse, cryptocurrency, psychedelics, renewable energy, and a lot more.

Are there any topics you would like us to discuss, or tips you may have? Reach out because we’d love to involve our audience as much as we can!

All of these new initiatives will be launched when we unveil our new website, which we expect to be re-launched (and packed with new content) towards the end of June.

In the meantime here are the ways you can follow along
